Czech Republic train route – Autumn edition

In this Czech Republic train route, I’ll show you the best places for an autumn trip. Of course, you can take this train trip any time of the year, but autumn ads to the charm and the wine region really should be visited during harvest season. You’ll read why in the guide. You’ll also read everything you need to know about the Czech trains, where to book your tickets, the travel times between the stops and how long the route takes you. It’s a DIY guide, which means I give you every detail you need to book your trains, but you’ll have to book them yourself and book accommodations and activities separately. I give good reasons for the stops you’ll make, but more detailed information will be in the blogposts you’ll find at the end of the guide, as well as my recommended platforms for said accommodations and activities.

It’s a good mix between nature/adventure, spa days, Prague as the big city and the cozy wine region. With options to add more big cities, cute towns or nature. So it has something for everything and gives a perfect idea about the country, even if you only have a little bit of time.

This Czech Republic train route gives you a good feel about the country, with a mix of everything it has to offer. Stunning nature that's pretty unique to the country, a wine region in a country that's mostly known for beer, and a spa town where mineral water comes out of free taps around the city. It has everything and could be done as a quick week trip. If you want more time, there are suggestions to extend the trip or of course you can spend more time in the places already highlighted. Blogs will give you more information about the destinations, they are linked in the guide, so you can easily find them again.

Why autumn? I'll explain in the guide, but it definitely adds to the charm. The autumn colours in nature and a spa day is always better when the weather is colder. It's also harvest time, and there's a special reason why you want to visit the wine region during this time. But of course, the places don't go anywhere, so you can use the guide at any time of the year. Only the prices are adjusted to autumn, they will be a bit more expensive in high season.

It contains this:

  • A ready-made itinerary of the autumn route through the Czech Republic
  • All the Czech train information you need
  • Important train details such as travel time and a price indication for the season (summer prices will be higher)
  • Basic information about the stops you will make
  • Links to blogs where you can find more information about the locations on the route
  • Links to my go-to platforms for accommodation and activities
  • Basic information about the country such as best travel time

The whole route takes about 12 hours and includes 4 stops. (Excluding your travel time to get to the first stop and/or back) It's a short trip that could be done in 7 days, but it will be a bit rushed. I recommend at least 10 days and if you want to make the trip longer, you can find recommendations of stops in the Czech Republic or the countries around.
